Oswald Lloyd

Private; 2nd Battalion, The Welsh Regiment

Killed in action: 9th September 1916, Somme

Unfortunately at present, we know very little about Oswald Lloyd and nothing about his link to Llanishen. It appears he was born and lived in Threapwood in Cheshire, though he enlisted in Cardiff and served in the Welsh Regiment. He was killed in action in September 1916 in the concluded phase of the Battle of the Somme. He is commemorated on the memorial in the South Porch of St Isan’s Church, but it appears he was unmarried and his family were from Cheshire. A mystery that we must still unravel.
